Forging is a method of shaping metal in which a heated workpiece is quickly compressed into a die cavity using a punch and a die. To gradually alter the shape of a workpiece, a series of punch and die operations (or many cavities in the same die) may be used. As the need for forging parts or forgings increases globally, the forgings export sector in India is growing daily. The country’s expanding exports have been significantly boosted by the Indian forging sector. Exports from the sector increased by approximately 30% in 2004–05, reaching a total of US$250 million. The USA, Europe, and China are the industry’s three main markets. Leading forgings exporters can be found all throughout India. Approximately 30-35 units are directly involved in exporting.
