Garlic

A member of the onion genus, garlic is widely cultivated everywhere. Tonnes of garlic are sent annually by an Indian company to a number of nations. Garlic’s distinctive flavour and perfume have led to an increase in garlic export from India. The Indian garlic exporter should take advantage of this chance to grow his company and compete on a global scale. The export of different varieties of garlic is part of India’s total export of garlic.

  • GARLIC VARIETIES WE EXPORT

Agrifound White, Yamuna Safed, and other varieties of garlic are among the varieties of garlic imported from India. Various parts of the world receive superior quality garlic from the Indian exporter of garlic. The following varieties of garlic are exported.

    AGRIFOUND WHITE

Mass selection was used to create the variety of garlic from a native collection found in the Biharsharif region. This type of garlic has tiny, creamy-fleshed, silver-white bulbs. Purple blotch and stemphylium blight, which are frequent in the northern regions, can harm Agrifound White. This variety produces about 130 q/ha.

    YAMUNA SAFED (G-1)

The Delhi (Azadpur) market provided the local collection from which the Yamuna Safed variety of garlic was mass-selected. This variety’s tiny bulbs have creamy flesh and silvery-white skin. The cloves are 25–30 in number and sickle-shaped. This cultivar can withstand diseases and insect pests such onion thrips, stemphylium blight, and a purple blotch.

    YAMUNA SAFED-2 (G-50)

A local collection of garlic from the Karnal region of Haryana was used to generate the Yamuna Safed-2 variation. This variety’s bulbs have white, creamy flesh and are small and beautiful. This variety typically yields between 150 and 200 q/ha. It is advised to use this type in Northern India.

    YAMUNA SAFED-3 (G-282)

The Yamuna Safed-3 type has flourished in Northern and Central India. The bulk selection method was used to create this variety from a local sample that was acquired from Dindigul in 1990. This plant typically has broader leaves than other types. This cultivar produces larger, creamy-white bulbs.

    AGRIFOUND PARVATI

This type of garlic was created in 1992 through the selection of an exotic assortment purchased from the Hong Kong market. Due to its long day type, the Agrifound Parvati variety is ideal for growing in Northern States’ mid- and high-elevation hills. The bulbs are larger in size and have a rosy tinge to their creamy white colour.

    YAMUNA SAFED-4 (G-323)

The Yamuna Safed-4 variety was created using the mass selection method from a local Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, collection. This variety’s bulbs are tiny, lovely, and creamy white in colour. This cultivar reaches maturity in 165–175 days. This variety produces 200–250 q/ha on average.

    PORCELAIN GARLIC

The porcelain garlic has a stiff neck and is a traditional pearly white colour. There are four or five uniform cloves in this cultivar. The neck is mostly made up of the bulb’s leftover shoots, or “scape,” a tangled mass that can be used in cooking. The porcelain garlic has a simple, robust flavour and a lovely appearance.

    ROCAMBOLE GARLIC

The Rocambole Garlic is a type of garlic with loose peel and purple streaks. According to reports, this cultivar has a strong flavour and a short storage life. This garlic has a high sulfenic acid content, which contributes to its scorching flavour resembling that of a chilli.
